Hey,
I’m Madita Schmidt, a designer and photographer from Germany with a background in colour, product and integrated design. My practice has developed through varied experiences in textile and product design, material and colour development, photography, exhibition planning and editorial design. During my time at Vorwerk, I worked on textile concepts, product presentations and trade-fair formats, while my internship at BMW Group introduced me to material, colour and graphic design for projects by BMW Motorrad and MINI.
Alongside my professional experience, I have worked as a photography tutor at HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts, supporting students and coordinating exhibitions. I just completed my Master’s degree in Integrated Design at HAWK University with a focus on photography, documentary visual storytelling, publication design and print. My work brings together research, photography and design to create thoughtful visual narratives across different media.
My practice focuses on documentary photography, editorial and publication design, colour and material, visual research, and exhibition design. I develop research-based projects that combine observation, photography and design. I am particularly interested in how visual narratives can make social subjects, personal experiences and everyday environments more tangible. My background in colour, product and integrated design allows me to work across different media — from photographic series and publications to material studies, exhibitions and visual concepts.
