Herr Seigis, 2025

“Herr Seigis” was my first independent photography project, developed during my first photography course in spring 2025. For two months, I accompanied my neighbour, an 80-year-old art restorer and antiques dealer, documenting his work, home and everyday life.

Through portraits, interviews and photographs of his apartment — a space that changed noticeably with every visit — the project developed into an intimate observation of memory, objects and routine. The resulting publication was exhibited at the university’s annual graduate show.

This project marked the beginning of my interest in documentary photography and remains an important starting point for my later work on portraiture, observation and visual storytelling.
