This project reimagines the cover of Italo Calvino’s Six Memos for the Next Millennium. The design is based on one of Calvino’s six proposed values for literature and centres on a horizontal hourglass as a symbol of the present moment.
Calvino died before he could complete the final lecture in the series, making the unfinished structure of the book an important part of its meaning. The cover therefore uses a quiet, restrained visual language, reflecting both the reflective nature of the text and Calvino’s literary sensibility.
